Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.

Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Climate Outlook

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Safety Concern

Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
